Claranova launches its new panic button technology No Dead Zone™ to protect US hotel employees

myDevices, Claranova’s IoT division, launches its new panic button technology, NO DEAD ZONE™, combining cellular, bluetooth, Wi-fi, and LoRaWAN® networks, to protect US hotel employees

myDevices, Claranova group’s Internet of Things division, announces the launch of its multi-network panic button technology, No Dead ZoneTM, for US hotel chains participating in the 5-star Promise initiative of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and other establishments in certain US cities and states.

The panic button is a response to recent scandals to protect hotel staff

Announced in 2018 and backed by major US hotel chains, including Marriott, InterContinental, Hilton and Hyatt, the 5-star Promise aims to enhance employee safety. Fifty-seven hotel chains, representing nearly 20,000 hotels and 1.2 million employees across the United States, have already joined the initiative.

In parallel, New York, Seattle, Chicago, Miami, Santa Monica and certain US states (New Jersey and Illinois) now require hotels to provide employees with panic buttons. A panic button is an emergency communications solution designed to protect employees from harassment and promptly ensure their safety.

Drawing on its technological expertise in connected device (IoT) management, myDevices, with its No Dead ZoneTM panic button technology, has developed a unique solution combining cellular, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and LoRaWAN® networks.

No Dead Zone™, offering protection with no “dead zones”

Cellular, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi network coverage can be limited inside buildings by heavy building material that blocks signal, creating “dead zones” where communication is unavailable. The algorithms used in No Dead Zone™ technology eliminate dead zones by combining the IoT network LoRaWAN® with traditional communication protocols. This long range, low power and low data bandwidth transmission technologyprovides full coverage for all buildings, whatever their size and configuration.

The myDevices solution is quick to install, easy-to-use and can be deployed at low cost. The No Dead ZoneTMsolution’s edge-to-cloud architecture, combined with the native security of the LoRaWAN® protocol and thatof Microsoft’s Azure IoT Hub, guarantees reliable and secure communications.

“After having evaluated various solutions, we chose the myDevices No Dead ZoneTM technology asits features outshine rival devices. It’s also easy to use and inexpensive to install”, said Bret Esbrandt, GM of the hotel Moody National Companies.

“With the No Dead ZoneTM solution, we’re proud to help improve safety for all hotel employees and eliminate no-go areas”, said Kevin Bromber, CEO of myDevices.

The No Dead ZoneTM emergency communication device is just one of the many Plug and Play solutions that myDevices offers major companies in the catering, hospitality, healthcare and manufacturing sectors through its partner Sprint and its distributor network.
